there. and if that mean having the student take that off and taking the heat for it, then here we are. >> reporter: and other parents tell us that students should be interested in politics and current events, but they say it simply does not belong on campus. thank you for the update when asked if she would ever go back to cool with the t-shirt, her mom answered, maybe. meanwhile, a hearing is underway in court as wepe leslie merit jr.'s lawyers are fighting to get his gun back. merit was accused in a freeway shootings case. this is the same gun that the department department public of safety was used in last summer's shootings. but the charges were formally dismissed back in april and in a hearing two months ago, a judge allowed the release. dps is still fighting that using a search warrant on the gun even though previous ballistic testing on the gun failing.

sweeping for an 84 old man was stabbed to death last week. investigators going to homes and businesses around this la fitness as they search for a suspect in the case. the victim was stabbed multiple times in his car and had just finished working out before the murder. chandler police are offering a $1,000 reward to help capture the person responsible. and new at noon, phoenix police have scheduled a 1:00 newson the search for the serial street shooter. the guy in these sketches hans killed at least in seven people over the past year. we're expecting to hear from the police chief, mayor, county attorney and the state attorney general at that briefing. you can watch it live right here at 12 news, on the website. and remember silent witnesses is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the case.

been found. the national weather service says it's still unclear how many tornados struck indiana yesterday. the damage is jaw dropping. the state department of homeland security reported early today that 12 tornados hit the state but later the agency revised that number to eight. weather service survey crews are scouring areas with storm damage in central and northern indiana to determine tornadoes struck there. damage was widespread. but luckily no injuries have been reported. i talon authorities say the death toll from yesterday's earth wake has now risen to 241. >> that number is expected to continue to rise as rescue workers frantically dry to find the living. bill kneelly is in the italy. >> reporter: from the rubble a small voice, rescuers find a

have storms popping up. about 95 degrees. 98 to 103 for today with a chance of storms developing around the valley. isolated and our monsoon meter for friday now still going to be about a 2. saturday a 2, and sunday a 1. let's get right back in the meat and potatoes. we have humidity here in the valley. forecast numbers are low for our chances of rain. but we have storms popping all over the place. same pattern we've dealt with the past three days. it will tap we see that already. here is where the rain is falling down in the rim country. some good storms are going to pop right there along i-40. there is a lot of wind being general raiting. just to the north of flagstaff, a little spotty activity. we don't want to leave out dewey and press scott. this is close to a palace station, a really cool area up there. but still in the mountains. not very populated but it could continue to build an these

so close to the valley. if they do, it could cause that reaction and create a storm or two. overguard, snowflake, more rain showers. we won't be seeing snow for four months or so. north of buckeye, just a little bit of -- these are some big clouds starting to build. also off towards the east. so we'll be tracking these. i'm fog to say there's a good chance if these storms from the north make their way to the valley, we could see some popping action just like we did yesterday. temperatures a3 of year. our monsoon meter, we have a 2 for the valley. 4 for the white mountains. northern arizona at 3. this is the fuel to work with. our dew points right at 55, 58. a couple of dry pockets over here. but overall, here is what we're going to have. 103. a chance of storms in the valley today. flagstaff, 70. and our seven day forecast,
